Filippo Inzaghi has given himself 48 hours to get back in contention for
Italy's Group G opener against Ecuador.
The AC Milan striker picked up an injury in training which seemed to have
ruled him out of the Azzurri's first game of the tournament.
But Inzaghi maintains that he will keep fighting for a place in Giovanni
Trapattoni's starting XI.
"I don't know whether or not I'll be ready. We'll see tomorrow and Friday,"
Inzaghi told the Italian football federation's official website, www.figc.it.
"I hope that I'm ready to play but this is a decision that Trapattoni along
with our team's physician has to make.
"If I'm not ready for the first match, I'll be ready for the second.
"I was very unhappy at the thought of missing the World Cup, but everything
has gone well and the only bad memories are the three or four hours spent in
apprehension."
Inzaghi would have made up half of the Azzurri's first-choice strike
partnership alongside his old friend Christian Vieri.
But Inzaghi admitted that he would play alongside any of the available
strikers just to appear for the team.
"I have never said that Vieri-Inzaghi is the best pair," he added.
"It's not right to say that you enjoy playing with one player more than with
another.
"I've never had any problems playing alongside Bobo (Vieri), but everyone
here plays well.
"This is a good group, so let's just keep going like this because all 23 of
us will make the difference."
