Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in signing Nigeria captain Jay Jay Okocha.

The 28-year-old midfielder will become a free agent in the summer when his contract with Paris St Germain expires and Bolton are poised to win the race to sign Okocha, who is rumoured to be demanding around £40,000 a week.

Allardyce admits he would like to take the player to the Reebok Stadium but is not willing to break the bank to do so.

He told the club's official website, www.bwfc.co.uk: "Jay Jay is a quality performer and, because of his availability in the close season, would inevitably be linked with moves to the Premiership.

"As a club, we are interested in players of Jay Jay's ability but only at the right price."
