Russia, the only side of the four participants going to the World Cup finals,
finished last in the LG Cup after losing out to Yugoslavia on penalties in the third-place
play-off.
Oleg Romantsev's side will be hoping they do not have to endure the lottery of
spot-kicks out in Japan and Korea, after losing both games in this warm-up
tournament in a shoot-out.
Dmitri Sychev put the game into extra-time when his low shot, two minutes from
time, levelled the scores at one apiece, after Darko Kovacevic had given
Yugoslavia a 55th-minute lead.
Extra-time failed to separate the two sides and Russia lost the shoot-out 6-5.
