Picture Tofting - hates to lose (Allsport)

STIG TOFTING

Position: Midfielder
Born: 14.08.69
Club: Bolton

Stig Tofting began life as a forklift truck driver before being signed by AGF Aarhus.

He soon became a terrace legend at AGF thanks to his tough tackling and never-say-die attitude.

He never shirks a tackle and battles for every loose ball right into the final minute of every match.

After making his name at AGF he went to OB Odense where things didn't go so well in that he was sacked for criticising coach Roald Poulsen.

He went back to AGF before moving to the Bundesliga where he played for Duisburg and Hamburg.

He sealed a move to Bolton in February and on his arrival at the Reebok Stadium was described by Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce as a "pocket battleship".

Tofting is highly regarded by Denmark boss Morten Olsen and if he is fully fit will team up with Thomas Gravesen in the middle of the park.

What they lack in skill they will certainly make up for in terms of effort and committment and if Denmark are to do well Tofting will have to be at his determined best.
