Alexandersson - great crosser of the ball (Allsport)
NICLAS ALEXANDERSSON
Position: Midfielder
Born: 29.12.71
Club: Everton
Niclas Alexandersson made his debut for Sweden way back in 1993 but heartbreak was to follow for him the following year when he was left out of their squad for the 1994 World Cup finals in America.
However, since then he has been a regular in the Sweden squad and he has been plying his trade in the English Premiership for the last four seasons.
He arrived at Sheffield Wednesday in 1998 and soon became a fans' favourite at Hillsborough.
He was voted the Owls' Player of the Season by the fans in the 1999/2000 season after bouncing back from a lengthy lay-off in the previous campaign.
However, after Wednesday were relegated he was sold to Everton for £2.5 million and has not enjoyed the best of times at Goodison Park.
Alexandersson has been plagued by niggling injuries over the past 12 months although he has returned to the Everton team over recent weeks and has looked like he is starting to rediscover his form of two seasons ago.
He is a very good crosser of the ball and with lots of experience of international football he will prove to be a valuable member of the Swedish squad.
