With the solid form and experience of both Ricardo Pereira and Vitor Baia, chances of the Sporting goalkeeper starting at the finals are slim.
His form with the Portuguese club champions has warranted a spot in the Far East, although in his only cap to-date, he conceded four goals in the shock 4-1 defeat at home to Finland in March this year.
Speculation in late 2001 suggested that the 'keeper was poised for a move to Manchester United, but the former Torreense stopper remains in Lisbon, and has been rewarded by the prospect of Champions League action next season.
