Club: Roma Roma coach Fabio Capello's faith in his former Milan right-back has saved his
World Cup chances. Once an Italy regular, his career went off the rails after
fall-outs at Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Monaco, from where Capello
took him on loan. He has found himself back in the Azzurri side at left-back,
and his versatility, if not his temperament, should make him an important squad
member. Strong in the tackle and excellent in the air.
