Started at Benfica and has also played for Inter Milan and Parma. His
acrimonious spell at Panathinaikos ended in December when he terminated his
contract. After five weeks of training by himself, signed for eighth club
Espanyol until the end of the season.
Along with Luis Figo and Rui Costa is one of the brilliant midfield trio that has brought Portugal to the forefront of world football.
Energetic player with loads of ability on the ball.
