Made a plea to be included last autumn and then scored in back-to-back December matches.
A lack of height counts against him, but he is a frequent scorer at international level and has more than 20 goals for the US.
Had a season with Saarbrucken of the German second division after the 1994 World Cup, but returned to America with the New England Revolution before signing for Everton
in December 1999.
