Diego Forlan - livewire striker (Allsport)
DIEGO FORLAN
Position: Forward
Born: 19.05.79
Club: Manchester United
Became the talk of European football six months ago after a bitter battle between Manchester United, Lazio and Middlesbrough for the blond hitman.
He eventually found his way to Old Trafford once a £7m fee had been agreed with his Argentinian club Independiente.
Forlan netted 40 goals in little more than two seasons in Argentina, prompting a call-up to the Uruguay national side.
He celebrated by bagging his first international goal after just four minutes of the friendly with Saudi Arabia in March, which the Uruguayans lost 3-2.
His Manchester United career is yet to lift off as he finds himself back in the strikers' pecking order behind the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Struggled at Old Trafford, mainly appearing as a substitute, and failed to find the net for the first team up to the end of the season.
Has shown himself to have a good touch and link well with the midfield players behind him, but has struggled in front of goal.
