Picture Regis - evergreen defender (Allsport).

DAVID REGIS

Position: Defender
Born: 02.12.68
Club: Metz

Evergreen defender who has been playing his football in Europe since 1988.

Comes into the World Cup finals with plenty of experience at the highest level too, having played in all three games for the States in their France '98 campaign.

As well as his extensive experience in Le Championnat, Regis has also played his football in Germany for Karlsruhe.

Was discovered at international level by Steve Sampson in 1997, and played only two games before being thrown into the finals in France.

Was widely regarded as one of the USA's best players in those finals, and will be hoping to perform well again in the Far East this summer.

Naturally left-footed, Regis provides speed and good technical ability on that side of the defence.

Made his international debut against Kuwait in May 1998.
