Picture Mathis - has come back well after injury. (Allsport)

CLINT MATHIS

Position: Midfield
Born: 25.11.76
Club: New York/New Jersey Metrostars

Talented young attacking player who should be one of the main weapons going forward for the States in the Far East this summer.

Made his international debut in the 0-0 draw with Australia in Pasadena in 1998.

Was a teenage prodigy, leading the States to a bronze medal in the World University Games in Italy, finishing with four goals and two assists.

Began his club career with the Los Angeles Galaxy, but moved to the Big Apple in 2000 as part of the deal which saw the Galaxy acquire Luis Hernandez.

Suffered a torn cruciate ligament in 2001, but has come back well to prove himself fully fit ahead of this summer's trip to the Far East.

Should be a key man for Bruce Arena's outfit.
