Another of Croatia's Bayer Leverkusen connection, defensive midfielder Jurica Vranjes is something of a fringe player with the crack German outfit.
He joined the Bundesliga side from NK Osijek when Emerson da Rosa left the club for Italy, however he has failed to make a first-team place his own.
Vranjes has come through the ranks at international level, representing his country in the 1999 World Youth Cup, and is looking to complete his progression this summer.
A keen tennis player away from football, the 22-year-old made his debut for Croatia against Egpyt in 1999.
Although perhaps unlikely to feature in the starting line-up in Japan, Vranjes is a strong, skillful midfielder and there is little doubt that coach Mirko Jozic will be making full use of his talents.
