Gattuso came through the ranks at Perugia before making a move to Rangers in the summer of 1997 - in a controversial Bosman switch.
Gattuso was a big hit at Ibrox in his first season and he was called into the Italian Under-21 team.
However he fell out of favour when Dick Advocaat took the reigns at the Scottish giants and Gattuso was soon on the way to Salernitana.
He established himself back in the Italian spotlight there and a move to Milan completed his recovery.
Since then he has established himself in the full Italian squad where his no-nonsense approach and high work-rate have caught the eye.
