Picture Mokoena - rapidly-improving defender. (Allsport)

AARON MOKOENA

Position: Defender
Born: 25.11.80
Club: Germinal Beerschot

Aaron Mokoena is a rapidly-improving defender currently playing his football in Belgium for Germinal Beerschot.

Depite being just 21 he already has 20 caps, the first of which he earned against Botswana three years ago when he was just 18.

He was one of the more impressive players in the Bafana's disappointing African Nations Cup campaign this year, and two years ago led the national under-23 team to qualification for the 2000 Olympics, in which they overcame Brazil.

He secured a move to Europe with Ajax before moving to Belgium, and aims to one day play in the English Premiership.

Interestingly, Mokoena insists on cutting his hair the night before a big game, so the classy youngster will be hoping for a closely-cropped style towards the end of June.
