Bradley Carnell was part of the Bafana defence which kept two clean sheets in the African Nations Cup in
Mali last winter.
He plays his club football in Germany for mid-table outfit Vfb Stuttgart, where he has tended to occupy a wide role for much of the season.
Carnell made a solid debut in the 2-0 defeat to Holland five years ago, and has since won 19 caps for his country.
He knows his task this summer is to help ensure that South Africa progress beyond the first round in Korea and Japan, by stopping the likes of Raul and Zahovic.
