Picture Sorin - heading to Rome for next season (Allsport)

JUAN PABLO SORIN

Position: Defender
Born: 05.05.76
Club: Cruzeiro/Lazio

Born in Buenos Aires, this classy defender has certainly done the rounds in club football, having spent time with Juventus, River Plate and Cruzeiro.

And he is back off to Serie A next season, with Lazio having spent 8million euros to land him from Brazilian side Cruzeiro.

It probably helps that he has the same agent as both Hernan Crespo and Juan Sebastian Veron, making him the latest Argentinian star to make the move to Europe.

He has now pocketed 31 caps having impressed the national selectors with some classy and versatile displays.

A member of the 1996 Olympic silver medal-winning team that lost to Nigeria in the final, he is looking to go one better in the Far East this summer.

"I cannot wait to go to the World Cup, I have a lot of hope in our team's abilities," said Sorin in a recent interview. "It is a great feeling to play at any time and place for Argentina. I love it because it is a childhood dream come true."
