The World Cup could not have come at a better time for Patrick Suffo.

The young striker will be hoping to explode onto the world scene as he looks for a new club after being transfer-listed by Sheffield United.

That came after the latest black mark in Suffo's career, as he was one of three men sent off in the match dubbed the 'Battle of Bramall Lane'.

Suffo was dismissed after clashing with West Brom's Derek McInnes in a match that had to be abandoned as the Blades were down to six men with eight minutes left.

So this summer gives him the opportunity to win himself a move.

Suffo's spell at Bramall Lane started in disappointing fashion as he was still serving an eight-month suspension after he clashed with a referee while at Nantes, where he spent three seasons.

Once he finally relaunched his career, Suffo became a fans' favourite with his silky skills and powerful running – but his latest black spot could mark the end of his career in England.

The 21-year-old, already an Olympic and African Nations champion, is likely to be limited to substitute appearances in the Far East – but he is more than capable of making an impact.
