ALIOUM BOUKAR

Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 05.01.72
Club: Samsunspor

Alioum Boukar is Cameroon's undisputed number one – and after his performance in the African Nations Cup earlier this year it is easy to see why.

The man nicknamed 'The Panther' was his country's hero in the final against Senegal as he pushed out two penalties as the Indomitable Lions won the shoot-out – and the tournament.

That marked the highest point of his career, which has seen him win over 40 international caps.

Recently Boukar flew to England for a trial with Manchester City, but he failed to secure a permanent move and has headed back to Turkish side Samsunspor.

With the likes of Deportivo La Coruna, Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano reportedly waiting in the wings, though, Boukar will be hoping to use the World Cup as a platform for a big move to Europe in the summer.

Boukar demonstrated at the African Nations Cup - which he won for the second time - that he is a good shot-stopper and commands his area well.
