OLEG ROMANTSEV
By Reece Killworth, Sportinglife.com
When the idea of Sven-Goran Eriksson managing Manchester United and England at the same time was floated a couple of months ago, it was widely criticised.
But if the Swede had have taken on the dual role, he could have looked to Russia coach Oleg Romantsev for inspiration.
For the last eight years Romantsev has made a success of being national coach while also being the manager - and president - of Spartak Moscow.
And it is to the eternal credit of Romantsev that neither club nor country have suffered.
Spartak have been Russian champions seven times since, while Russia qualified for this summer's World Cup by topping their group.
Romantsev's Russian squad has a nucleus of Spartak players but he has built up an impressive party of players who have gelled well.
He has a reputation for being somewhat aloof but when he is in the presence of fellow footballing men, he inspires confidence.
He is a hard worker who puts in endless hours of research and demands the same amount of effort from his players.
