A talented midfielder, Gianni Bismark Guigou Martinez is another of Uruguay's players that plies his trade in Serie A.
Guigou moved from his home country when he signed for AS Roma from Nacional, for who he made his debut in the Apertura season of 1996.
Although not a regular for the Italian giants Guigou did make 15 league appearances last season for the club.
Two goals in his first season at Roma in the UEFA Cup - against Liverpool and Hamburg - showed Guigou's worth, and a player who will be 27 by the time the 2002 World Cup starts could well prove to be as important as his superb teammate Alvaro Recoba.
