As he rapidly approaches his 100th cap, Viktor Onopko is far and away the most experienced member of the Russian squad.
Despite his advancing years, Onopka is still a rock at the back for the national team - where his partnership with Yuri Nikiforov is the foundation on which the Russian team is built.
Just five goals conceded during qualifying proves the success of the duo and their understanding will be crucial at the World Cup.
Onopka made his debut for the CIS in 1992, playing at the European Championships that year.
He has been an almost permanent fixture at the heart of the Russian defence ever since, during which time he has moved from Spartak Moscow to Real Oviedo, for who he has been on top form.
Onopka was one of the few Russians to play in all of their qualifying matches and coach Oleg Romantsev will be calling upon all of his experience this summer.
