Matt Holland - industrious midfielder (Allsport).
MATT HOLLAND
Position: Midfield
Born: 11.04.74
Club: Ipswich Town
Talented midfielder who has impressed in the Premiership since Ipswich won promotion in 2000.
Was a big reason for his club's sensational fourth-place finish in the top flight last season, and has again been in good form this term.
Began his career at Upton Park but failed to make the grade with the Hammers, and was transferred to Bournemouth.
His performances on the South Coast were good enough to earn him to an £800,000 move to Portman Road in 1997, and since then he's never looked back.
Born in Bury in Lancashire, he qualfies to play for Mick McCarthy's side through his grandmother.
And he won his first cap as a substitute in the clash with Macedonia in Skopje in October 1999.
Holland is an energetic player with good passing ability and an eye for goal.
He was a vital contributor in the run to the finals - his greatest moment was probably a brilliant equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Portugal in Lisbon.
Inspirational character who now skippers Ipswich.
