Picture Ono - has done well at Feyenoord (Allsport).

SHINJI ONO

Position: Midfield
Born: 27.09.79
Club: Feyenoord

Ono burst onto the Japanese football scene with a remarkable debut J-League season.

Some remarkable performances for Urawa Red Diamonds, for whom he scored in just his second game, soon caught the attention of the big clubs in Europe.

And an impressive Confederations Cup with the national team meant that although the likes of Borussia Dortmund came in for Ono, the midfielder chose to move to Holland's Eredivisie and play for Feyenoord.

Ono has done well for the Dutch giants too, and he looks like he could make a real impact in Europe.

He should form part of a skilful Japan midfield in the World Cup, along with Nakata and Nakamura, and he couldn't ask for a better stage to show off his skills to the world.
