Hedman - nicknamed 'Mr Bionic'. (Allsport)
MAGNUS HEDMAN
Position: Goalkeeper.
Born: 19.03.1973
Club: Coventry
The Coventry keeper succeeded the legendary Thomas Ravelli for Sweden and will be well known to English fans thanks to his displays for the Sky Blues.
Hedman and the defenders in front of him played a pivotal role for the Swedes during qualifying as they conceded just three goals.
His strength is his shot-stopping and he has earned rave reviews for his performances for both the Sky Blues and at international level.
However, his positioning behind the wall at free-kicks has frequently been called into question while he is also liable to flap at crosses.
Hedman fell behind Chris Kirkland in the pecking order at Highfield Road and looked set to leave before the young English keeper departed for Liverpool.
That allowed Hedman - nicknamed 'Mr Bionic' in Sweden - to reclaim his place, and he is now firmly focused on the World Cup.
