Forced to play second fiddle to Henrik Larsson in terms of the publicity the strikers receive, but Allback is a vital part of the Swedish team.
The former Lyngby and Bari hitman (he spent six months in Italy) has struck up an almost telepathic understanding with Larsson since breaking in to the Sweden team in November 1999.
His domestic record of 41 goals in 68 games in the last three seasons is impressive - with his 10 goals in 16 for Heerenveen in 2000-01 a better return than the Dutch club had hoped for.
Allback netted braces against Moldova and Slovakia in qualifying as his partnership with Larsson came into its own and he was reportedly the subject of a £4million bid from Southampton last summer.
Joined Aston Villa just weeks before the tournament started, and will be hoping to show his new employers just what they can expect from him.
