Bak - had to wait three years for second cap. (Allsport)
ARKADIUSZ BAK
Position: Midfield
Born: 24.03.72
Club: Polonia Warsaw
Three years separated Arkadiusz Bak's first and second caps for Poland, but since returning to the team he has gone from strength to strength.
His first appearance for the national side came back in 1998, yet he had to wait until last year to add to his cap collection when he faced Wales in World Cup qualifying.
Ironically, that match was enough for him to earn a move to England as Steve Bruce attempted to take him to Crystal Palace on the back of his performance against the Welsh.
That deal fell through and Bak moved to Birmingham a month later on loan after Bruce had completed his protracted move to St Andrews.
But his spell in the Midlands was cut short and he returned to Polonia Warsaw.
Bak is a powerhouse midfielder who is strong in the tackle and good in both the air and on the ground.
He has played for the Poles as a striker in a 4-3-3 formation but is more at home in the middle of the park.
