The talisman of Costa Rican football, Hernan Medford will turn 34 just before the start of the 2002 World Cup.
And while he may not be a regular starter in coach Alexander Guimares' team, he will have a huge role to play from the bench.
Medford scored against Sweden in the World Cup finals back in 1990, and helped his team through to the second round ahead of Scotland and the Swedes.
The San Jose-born hitman has also played at the top flight in Italy after a move to Serie A club Foggia back in 1992, but he failed to make an impact and left the club after scoring just once in 12 appearances.
