Mario Stanic began his career with Sporting Gijon before moving on to Benfica and then FC Bruge in 1995. He was voted Player of the Year in the Belgian league the season after before making a move to Parma in 1997. During his time in Serie A he earned the reputation of being one of the best right-sided players in the league and was part of the side which won the Italian and UEFA Cups. His impressive form was carried on at intnerational level and he impressed for Croatia at France 98 before moving to Chelsea. He picked up a serious injury after scoring twice against West Ham on his debut last season but is now back firing on all cylinders.
Excellent finisher who is superb in the air, particularly from set pieces.
