In the build-up to the last World Cup Emmanuel Olisadebe was playing for Jasper United, a club that will probably be familiar to practically no-one outside of Nigeria.

Four years on and the 23-year-old will complete his rapid rise to fame when he leads the Polish strikeforce in Japan and Korea.

Olisadebe started his European career with Polonia Warsaw just months after leaving his home country and as word of his predatory instincts spread, the Nigerian-born frontman was rapidly granted Polish citizenship.

Since then he has joined Greek side Panathinaikos, making an impression in the Champions League, and took just 13 games to notch up his 10th international goal.

Olisadebe combines pace and power with an unerring eye for goal and has the potential to set the tournament alight.
