Li is strong both in the air and on the ground and is a great organiser alongside Fan Zhiyi at the centre of the defence.
And Li has that priceless knack of getting forward at set pieces to claim his fair share of goals.
He was on target against Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Qatar in the World Cup qualifiers as China reached the Finals for the first time.
That combination of power and goals has attracted a number of foreign clubs, with Southampton reportedly in the running for the youngster's signature.
He is now hoping to use the World Cup to earn "more international exposure" to help him go on to the next level.
