Picture Jay Jay Okocha - wonderful footballer (Allsport).

JAY JAY OKOCHA

Position: Midfield
Born: 14.08.73
Club: Paris St Germain

"With talent like this, where did it all go wrong" said the cover of African Soccer magazine after the last World Cup.

The headline was written over a picture of Jay Jay Okocha, whose skills had lit up France 98 but whose Nigerian team had gone the way of the other African sides and suffered an early exit.

Okocha's breathtaking skills didn't go to waste however as his performances earned him a £10m move to Paris St Germain.

Before that he had spells at Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and Fenerbahce where he was hero-worshipped by the Turkish fans.

Despite some memorable moments, his spell in Paris has sometimes proved difficult and he admits he has given serious thought about a move to the Premiership.

The highlight for Okocha was the gold medal he picked up in 1996 when Nigeria became the first African side to win the Olympic football tournament.

Unfortunately for the romantics they may see a more mature Okocha at World Cup 2002. He's vowed to cut down the showmanship and said he will stop dribbling the ball so much after repeated criticism.

Part of the Nigerian squad that finished third in the African Nations Cup earlier this year.
