CHOKRI A DEPENDABLE KEEPER
Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 15.08.1966
Club: Esperance
Chokri El Ouaer is the man charged with the responsibility of leading Tunisia into their second successive World Cup finals campaign.
The Esperance goalkeeper has been a fixture in the national side for 14 years in a career which has seen him pick up a host of awards at club level.
The highlight for El Ouaer was being named Tunisian Footballer of the Year and then African Goalkeeper of the Year in 2000
El Ouaer is probably the most well-known footballer in Tunisia, but things turned sour for the veteran last year when he was banned from the African Champions League for a year after a ruling that he faked injury in a bid to have a match abandoned.
This ban was later lifted after seven months and he is back with Esperance now after an unsuccessful spell in the Italian league with Genoa.
Was one of the few Tunisians to shine at the African Nations Cup this year where he was part of the side that conceded just one goal in their three group games.
Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to stop his side from crashing out at the first stage.
