  SOUTH AFRICA
Picture Radebe - had struggled with ankle problem. (Allsport)

LUCAS RADEBE

Position: Defender
Born: 04.12.69
Club: Leeds United

Lucas Radebe was one of the surprise inclusions in the South Africa squad, despite his wealth of experience.

The 32 year-old had just returned from a serious knee injury when he sustained ankle ligament damage in a reserve game for Leeds United against Sunderland.

That limited Radebe to under 90 minutes' play this season, none of which was in competitive action.

But if he is fully fit, his inclusion in the starting line-up would be a massive boost.

Radebe has been South Africa's captain on 35 occasions and his World Cup experience would prove invaluable to South Africa's chances.

Radebe made his international debut way back in July 1992 against Cameroon and has currently made over 60 international appearances, scoring one goal.
