£35million man Hernan Crespo (Allsport).
HERNAN CRESPO
Position: Forward
Born: 05.07.75
Club: Lazio
Crespo was briefly the world's most-expensive player when he moved from Parma to Lazio in the summer of 2000 for a cool £35 million.
That fee was soon surpassed when Luis Figo left Barcelona for Real Madrid, but represents money well spent by the Roman giants. The man who signed Crespo - who scored a goal every two games at Parma - was England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Crespo soon started paying off the massive transfer fee, becoming Serie A's top scorer in his first season in Rome.
In doing so he helped ensure Gabriel Batistuta was left playing second fiddle to him in terms of national selection.
A player who was only a squad member at France 98, Crespo likes to try tricky and spectacular moves, but often looks clumsy in doing so.
This should not deflect from his skilful ability which is likely to baffle many a defender this summer.
Excellent finisher who has become one of the world's best strikers.
