An attacking force who is capable of tearing any defence apart, he was one of Portugal's stars at Euro 2000.
Creativity is his strength and he has come into his own in recent years after Portugal struggled to break teams down during the 90s.
Played in eight of Portugal's ten qualifier and will doubtless be on the team sheet for the finals opener against the USA, provided he is fit.
Joined Milan from Fiorentina for £24million in the summer, initially struggling to settle with his new club.
