Totti, a boyhood Roma fan, made his Serie A debut at the age of just 16 against Brescia, and has since gone on to emulate his hero Giuseppe Giannini.
Like many of the current Italian squad he was part of Cesare Maldini's Under 21 side that won the European Championship in 1996.
The midfielder, who can be equally effective as a striker, played in seven of Italy's eight qualifying games, and should be a regular come World Cup time.
Totti also played in all three of Italy's Euro 2000 campaign, and forms an imposing attacking force alongside the likes of Christian Vieri and Alessandro Del Piero.
