Picture Thierry Henry - pace and skill (Allsport).

THIERRY HENRY

Position: Forward
Born: 17.08.77
Club: Arsenal

The scourge of defences up and down England and now across Europe, Henry has developed into one of the world's greatest strikers.

His devastating pace is almost unrivalled and he is currently providing the firepower behind Arsenal's bid for the FA Barclaycard Premiership title.

He began his career back at Monaco, alongside international strike partner David Trezeguet, where he made his reputation, but he left in 1999 after becoming disillusioned with the small crowds and lack of atmosphere in the French principality.

Juventus were quick to snap up his talent, but like Patrick Vieira, he possibly moved to Serie A too early in his career and he was eventually rescued from the reserves by Arsene Wenger, who brought him to Arsenal for a club record £10million as a replacement for Nicolas Anelka.

This has become one of the greatest acts of business in Premiership history with Henry quickly becoming one of the leading marksmen in the country.

During this time, he has become a regular in the French international side, leading their forward line to both World Cup 98 and Euro 2000, with his speed and skill leaving opposing defences in tatters.

He should be battling it out for the Golden Boot in the Far East, provided he remains healthy, and at just 24, he remains one of the most exciting players taking part in this summer's showpiece event.
