GAZZAIEV HANDED RUSSIAN REINS
Valeri Gazzaiev has been named as the new coach of Russia.
The news was announced by the vice-president of the Russian football federation (FUR), Valeri Draganov, after a meeting held by the executive committee.
Gazzaiev is currently the coach of Russian Vischaya Liga club CSKA Moscow but may have to leave the post after his predecessor Oleg Romantsev was unsuccessful in trying to juggle the demands of being both national team boss and the coach of Spartak Mocow.
Romantsev resigned after the country's poor display at the World Cup.
The Russians were knocked out in the group stages after suffering defeats against Japan and Belgium.
