Sweden captain Patrik Andersson
believes England are so boring they should never have survived the first round
of the World Cup.
The Barcelona defender, who did not play a single match at the World Cup due
to injury, says it was a shame that the likes of Argentina and Denmark crashed
out of the tournament early as he feels they were much better than Sven-Goran
Eriksson's England, who reached the quarter-finals where they fell to Brazil.
"Argentina's premature goodbye was a real shame," Anderson told El Mundo
Deportivo.
"England played really boring football. It was rudimentary and they shouldn't
have got out of the group stage.
"There were other teams, such as Denmark, who showed a much higher level of
football and deserved to have better luck."
Sweden and England were the second round qualifiers from World Cup Group F,
which also boasted Argentina and Nigeria.
Sweden fell at the very next hurdle, losing 2-1 to Senegal while England beat
Denmark 3-0 before losing 2-1 to Brazil in the quarters.
Andersson is now back with his club Barcelona
receiving treatment from their medical team for a knee problem that ruined his
World Cup campaign.
