Brazil star Rivaldo is ready to make history as he and his team-mates prepare to play Turkey in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Rivaldo has so far scored a goal in every match of the tournament, including the winner when Brazil beat Turkey in the first round - a result the Barcelona man would be happy to emulate as they bid to claim a fifth World Cup title.

"It is time to make history, only a few get there and we have to fight a lot to get to our aim," Rivaldo told Brazilian national newspaper O Globo.

Brazil finished top of Group C, ahead of Turkey, after winning all three matches in the first round.

However, the 'Canarinha' were forced to work hard for victory when they came up against the Turks in Ulsan on June 3 in a match filled with tension and controversy.

Brazil managed the win with a penalty which resulted in the sending-off of Turkish defender Alpay Ozalan.

A second Turk was dismissed in injury time for kicking the ball at Rivaldo, who was later fined by FIFA for faking a facial injury in the incident.

However, Rivaldo was unrepentant: "The aggressor was a Turkish player that hit me with a ball without reason, I made a mistake and I was punished."

He does not believe revenge is on the cards for the Turkish team.

"I don't think it is going to be revenge, the most important thing is to reach the final, that is what is important for both teams, they are not thinking of that game."

The Brazilians will have to conjure a way of breaking down Turkey without midfield playmaker Ronaldinho, who was sent off in Friday's 2-1 quarter-final win over England.

The Paris Saint Germain star has had an outstanding World Cup, destroying England with a wonderful run and pass to set up the first goal for Rivaldo and then striking an astonishing free-kick for the winner.

Nevertheless, Rivaldo believes Brazil can play without Ronaldinho's midfield inspiration.

"He (Ronaldinho) is an important player for the team, but Brazil also has other great players, the level will not fall."

Although Brazil have won all their matches so far, Rivaldo believes Turkey present a formidable barrier to winning the treasured 'Penta' - a fifth World Cup title.

"We are facing a difficult rival and we cannot let them come out in front because they have a good goalkeeper and they play strong."
