Turkish soccer chief Haluk Ulusoy insists the
team will be returning home as heroes, regardless of what happens in their World
Cup semi final with Brazil.
Saturday's golden goal victory over Africa's surprise package Senegal means
the Turks have reached the last four in only their second finals.
The 1-0 victory sparked wild scenes of celebration throughout the night on the
nation's streets, with supporters starting to believe they may actually win the
tournament.
And Ulusoy, president of the Turkish FA, says the players will be praised
whatever the outcome of Wednesday's game.
He said: "We have our names written on the biggest story in football
history.
"We are very happy if we brought the Turkish people on to the streets with
joy and happiness."
He added: "We promised a quarter-final to the Turkish people, and we are now
in the semi-finals.
"And God willing, we will beat Brazil and progress to the final.
"We have proved we can play and showed the world Turkish football."
Turkey's minister of sport added the team will use the controversial defeat to
the Brazilians in the group stages as inspiration.
The South Americans were awarded a harsh 87th minute penalty when Alpay fouled
Luizao outside the penalty area.
Fikret Unlu added: "Brazil got the first game unjustly.
"I feel that Brazil owes us after the first game. Now, we will charge them
their debt this time."
