Cameroon captain Rigobert Song has signed a
four-year contract with French club Lens.
The 25-year-old former West Ham and Liverpool defender led Cameroon to the
African Nations Cup title in February but they bowed of the World Cup in the
first round.
A spokesman for Lens, runners-up to Lyon in Le Championnat last season,
confirmed the signing on Friday.
Song is no stranger to the French league, having played for Metz between 1994
and 1998 under Joel Muller who took over Les Sang et Or at the start of last
summer.
Lens, meanwhile, also hope to sign Lille's high-flying striker Dagui Bakari
over the next few days.
"It's not definite yet but the negotiations are going well and he should be
with us officially soon," said the Lens spokesman.
Bakari would replace Senegal international El-Hadji Diouf, who has joined
Liverpool. Bakari scored nine goals for Lille last campaign.
