Luis Enrique on Thursday warned his Spain team-mates
that they must not allow any refereeing decisions to knock their confidence in
Saturday's quarter-final against Korea.
Italy came undone to some questionable refereeing decisions when losing 2-1 to
the co-hosts in the second round, and Luis Enrique knows referee Gamal Ghandour
will come under pressure from the home crowd.
The fact Ghandour is Egyptian rather than from an established football nation
does not worry the Barcelona player, who is confident of an impartial
performance.
"I'm not an expert on the standard of refereeing in Egypt but I always feel
that referees go out onto the pitch in order to do the best that they can, much
as footballers themselves, and they try to influence the game as little as
possible," he said on www.libredirecto.com.
"With this in mind, we cannot afford to let any of the referee's decisions
affect us as we endeavour to be the better side and to get though to the next
round."
