Korean World Cup hero Ahn Jung-hwan has
responded to his axing by Perugia by accusing Italians of being sore losers.
He was dumped by the Serie A club a day after heading the goal which put Italy
out of the World Cup.
"I am sorry for Italy, but I play for the South Korean team," he told
Italian national newspaper Corriere della Sera. "The Italians only know how to
win - not how to lose."
Rather than whingeing at Perugia's treatment of him, Ahn claimed he had
already received a host of offers to move elsewhere in Europe or return to Korea
where he is now idolised.
"I have many offers from my country, Spain and England," he said.
On Wednesday, Perugia president Luciano Gaucci fumed: "He has only stood out in
the World Cup when he has faced Italy.
"This behaviour is an offence for a country that two years ago opened the
doors to him.
"I will not renew him (his contract), he does not deserve it."
But Ahn is convinced that Gaucci's views will not hamper him in his search for
a new club, and he revealed he may even stay on in Serie A.
"Gaucci has not offended me. I heard worse things on the pitch from the
Italian players," he added.
"I would not mind playing for another Italian club like Parma or Lazio."
