Spain midfielder David Albelda is undergoing treatment for the horror injury which might have put an end to his
World Cup.
Albelda came on as a second-half substitute against the Republic of Ireland
yesterday, but he was unable to appear in extra-time after suffering a twisted
testicle in a tackle.
Now it looks as if he may be sidelined for several days, and that could mean
him missing Saturday's quarter-final against Italy or Korea.
"I am not depressed, but I would have liked to have played now my moment has
arrived," said Albelda, who explained the injury.
"The problem is that one of my testicles has twisted and it has obstructed
the vein that carries the blood, which has produced some bleeding and
inflammation."
The midfielder had previously been suffering from pelvic problems which may
require surgery before next season, but insists this was a separate problem.
"This has nothing to do with the pelvic trouble. I will have to rest for a
few days but it doesn't need any further treatment," he added.
"Everyone has been great to me. The truth is that I can't complain because
everyone is behind me."
