Italy will give injured defender Alessandro
Nesta until Tuesday morning to recover fitness for the second-round match
against co-hosts Korea.
The 26-year-old Lazio captain damaged his right foot in the Group G game
against Croatia nine days ago and aggravated the problem when he played the
whole of last Friday's match against Mexico.
"I would like to play but I will decide tomorrow," Nesta said today.
"I was more optimistic prior to the match against Mexico. The difference is
that this time round I have pushed it more and I have had problems."
Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti is angry with the Italian Football Federation
for not consulting the club before carrying out treatment on Nesta.
He said: "If there were to be any physical problems with our captain (Nesta),
the Federation will assume all responsibility.
"The authorisation to do the treatment did not come from our club doctors."
