Mexico coach Javier Aguirre is expecting a tense
encounter when his side meet the USA in the second round of the World Cup on
Monday.
Aguirre feels there is little to choose between the teams who came through the
same CONCACAF qualifying group together.
Then it was the Mexicans who got the better of their neighbours in the final
standings, but the States won 3-0 in a friendly just before the finals started.
Aguirre said: "It will be a very even match, where each team has a 50% chance
of qualifying.
"All the teams in this World Cup are very competitive, and any player can
come off of the bench and perfectly replace a starter."
Mexico have been impressive in reaching the last 16.
The found themselves placed in a tough Group G along side Italy, Croatia and
Ecuador.
They finished unbent after wins over the Croats and South Americans, and a
final match draw with the Azzurri.
But Aguirre has warned his players there can be no room for complacency
against an American side who finished above Portugal and Poland in their table.
He added: "Mexico will play very responsibly, with order and happiness. They
are a very well organised team, that deserves our respect."
