Mexican coach Javier Aguirre wants to reduce the
euphoria generated after the team's qualification to the second round.
"We didn't win anything yet. This is just our first objective, and we have to
keep fighting", he said.
Mexico face old rivals the United States in the second round in Chonju in
Monday.
The Americans are now the major obstacle to Aguirre achieving his pre-World
Cup goal of reaching at least the quarter-finals.
"We worked a lot in the mental aspect. This is a team with a lot of technical
skills, but they lacked confidence. We have to motivate the players a lot,"
Aguirre explained.
"But we can't forget that the next match is what counts. We have a lot to do
still."
Mexico qualified for the second round by winning Group G in impressive
fashion, defeating Croatia 1-0 and Ecuador 2-1 before outplaying Italy for long
periods and scoring first in a 1-1 draw.
