Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa was left to
lament results that didn't match performances after watching his side suffer a
shock expulsion from the World Cup.
The South Americans, pre-tournament favourites, became the second big-name
casualties after France to find the 'little' teams unwilling to recognise their
betters.
Needing a win over Sweden to be sure of a place in the second round, Bielsa's
side could only manage a 1-1 draw.
"I feel very saddened and disappointed for the exit from the World Cup,"
said Bielsa.
"It is a disappointment not to have qualified for the next round."
As in the 1-0 defeat to England, Argentina dominated possession but could not
convert their superiority into goals.
"They faced the same situation as they did on Friday against England," said
Bielsa.
"We go home not because of merits but results, the results were not positive,
if I had to comment on the merits, we deserved to win the game against Sweden
that was clear.
"We lacked goal-scoring, that is what kept us from continuing in the World
Cup."
